Magnolia Lane: Southern Belle Photography Blog- Standard HDR VS. Luxury HDR Photography!

One of the most overlooked aspects of real estate marketing is the quality of the photography.

Digital photography today is everywhere and the technology has advanced to the point that everyone has the ability to snap images and instantly upload them anywhere.

The vast majority of real estate listings are shot with a cell phone or an ordinary cameras that simply cannot overcome the complex lighting and spatial challenges presented when shooting the interior of a home.

Great real estate photography doesn’t simply require a keen eye behind the lens to make properties look beautiful. It also requires a lot of knowledge about architecture, what angles are better then others, and photography software. It also needs to inspire buyers to take action — to visit the property in person – and eventually make an offer.

It is proven that professional photography done by a photographer that specialize in Real estate photography increases the value of a home and reduces the time on the market.

Chances are you have probably already heard about Luxury High Dynamic Range (LHDR) and how it’s going to take your viewing experience “to the next level”. However, since Luxury HDR is still a fairly new technology, some people are still not quite clear about how it actually works.

Luxury High Dynamic Range (LHDR) is no exception. Superseding the standard dynamic range of Standard HDR, Luxury HDR has acquired more and more buzz in recent years with more & more agents making the switch to Luxury HDR Photography.

So, what is Luxury HDR exactly?

How does it differ from Standard HDR?

Why does it matter to you?

For the answers to these questions, take a look at our Standard HDR vs. Luxury HDR comparison guide below to find out how Luxury HDR works and why it’s here to stay!

What is HDR?

HDR is an imaging technique that captures, processes, and reproduces content in such a way that the detail of both the shadows and highlights of a scene are increased

While Standard HDR was used in traditional photography in the past, it has recently made the jump to smart phones, TVs, monitors and more.

So what does this mean for you? This means that Luxury HDR images have more overall detail, a wider range of colors, and look more similar to what is seen by the human eye when compared to Standard HDR images.

Dynamic Range in Images

In most images you will come in contact with there will be brighter parts and darker parts of the image that both contain displayable detail. When an image is overexposed, information in the brighter part of the image will be lost; likewise, when an image is underexposed information in the dark parts of the image will be lost.

Dynamic range is the range of information between the lightest and darkest part of an image, also known as an image’s luminosity

An image with a luxury high dynamic range is an image with a mix of dark and bright attributes in the same image. Sunrises and sunsets are a good example of images with high dynamic range.

Luxury HDR vs. Standard HDR Compared

Standard High Dynamic Range, is the current standard for images.

Unfortunately, it is limited by its ability to only represent a fraction of the dynamic range that Luxury HDR is capable of.

Luxury HDR, therefore, preserves detail in scenes where the contrast ratio of the image could otherwise be a hindrance.

To put it simply, when comparing Luxury HDR vs. Standard HDR , Luxury HDR allows you to see more of the detail and color in scenes with a high dynamic range.

Southern Belle Real Estate Photography pricing is based on two types of packages:  Standard & Luxury.  Luxury photography uses advanced HDR (High Dynamic Range) techniques that produce the most true-to-life and vibrant colors possible.  During a luxury photo shoot, photographers take an over-exposed photo and an under-exposed photo (light and dark) along with a standard exposure.  These three photos are then merged together into one image that highlights the very best characteristics of each object in the room.

In other words, HDR photography is the most successful way for the camera to show what the human eye naturally sees.

Luxury HDR photos requires extra work in both capturing and editing, which results in higher pricing, but the results will speak for themselves.

For those who demand the very best, Luxury HDR photography is the only way to go. More attention is generated from a greater amount of potential buyers with Luxury HDR Images.

These are some examples, of what Standard HDR Photography looks like Vs. Luxury HDR Photography

Standard HDR is the first image & Luxury HDR is the second image.
